NATIONAL NOVEL WRITING MONTH

November is National Novel Writing Month, the time for everyone who has ever thought of writing a novel to join the thousands who take up the flung gauntlet of a writing challenge. There is no charge and there are regional writing groups to help encourage you and foster a team spirit. This isn't really a competition, it's more of a community of like-minded people who want to finally tackle that novel they always wanted to write but never found the time for.

My first book, "No Place For Mercy," was an anthology of short stories. However, I will be writing a full-length novel for National Novel Writing Month.

Right now, the plan is to adapt the feature film screenplay "Fury" to a novel. "Fury" was a Finalist for the 2014 Creative Worlds Awards international screenplay competition, so I am still actively pitching this as a film project. However, having a novel of this story can only help increase its exposure.

The Jackson, Michigan 2022 Southside Festival Series Authors & Writers Expo

The 2022 Southside Festival Series Authors & Writers Expo is in the books. The Expo proved to be a great showcase for a lot of the creative writing talent in and around Jackson, Michigan. Although there wasn't a large crowd, a steady amount of people came to peruse the offerings, chat with local authors and drink in the ambience. The event had several great sponsors and helped introduce some impressive writers to the community. I had a great time at this event. Though I am reticent and uncomfortable talking about myself and fit the cliché of the “introverted writer” very well, this was a memorable and fun experience. I met some exceptional people, both writers and book readers, and came away with a better understanding of how a Book Expo operates. It was wonderful to meet new people and to greet friends, old and new, who dropped in to meet this fine  sampling of the local writing community.
