Jubal Stone's Dilemma

DILEMMA:

a situation in which a difficult choice has to be made between two or more alternatives, especially equally undesirable ones.

Diplomatic Security Service Special Agent Jubal Stone has a decision to make: Obey orders or follow his conscience.

Simple, no?

But those apparently simple options conceal a unique problem that requires a momentous decision after the last rebel angel is cast out of Heaven.

When this angel crashes to earth imprisoned inside a meteorite, the special State Department unit sent to apprehend him is massacred. Jubal and his former mentor and tormentor, Thaddeus Coleman, are sent to carry out this 'black operation' that could decide the fate of America.

THE STATE DEPARTMENT HAS MADE A SECRET TREATY WITH LUCIFER

Jubal and Thad must capture the rebel and deliver him to Lucifer before the CIA gets him, but the Agency opposes any treaty with the Devil. A rogue unit led by an ambitious operator wants the fallen angel for study and experimentation. They want the secrets of immortality and miracles and are willing to risk war to get it.

WHO DO YOU SERVE AND WHO DO YOU TRUST?

Like the two questions central to the running storyline behind the Babylon 5 spinoff series Crusade, Jubal is no longer sure who he serves by delivering the angel to Hell, and he doesn't know who he can trust after he discovers that the two people he is relying most heavily upon are keeping secrets from him -- secrets that could get them all killed.

Jubal learns that there is a very special reason Lucifer covets this fallen angel. This rebel has recent intelligence about Heaven, something Lucifer desperately needs to help him win his war against God.

Jubal is a loyal agent who has never disobeyed orders, but nothing has prepared him for a dilemma like this. Turning the rebel angel over to Lucifer places humanity firmly on the side of the Devil and against God.

THE DILEMMA:

Does Jubal Stone owe his loyalty to the State Department or the human race? To a treaty with the Devil or to an upbringing that taught obedience to God?
